2.耐心的重要性(the Importance of Patience)
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay commenting on the saying,“There is no great achievement that is not the result of patient working and waiting.”You can cite one example or two to illustrate the importance of patience. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.
范文:
Living in an era of information explosion, a growing number of people have too much desire but too little patience. However, provided that we intend to acquire and enjoy long-term progress and happiness, it is advisable for us to be the quality of patience.
On the one hand, patience, without a doubt, is like a stepping stone which enhances people’s resilience of dealing with difficulties, ensures more fruitful results, and enables them to go further on the way of success. A typical example is Edward Gibbon, a worldly renowned historian, who worked twenty years on the historic classicDecline and Fall of the Roman Empire; Another is Noah Webster spent thirty six years on his dictionary. On the other hand, for college students like us, without perseverance, we are prone to confine ourselves to low-efficiency and poor abilities. In fact, it is patience that lays a solid foundation for our academic success, as well as for us to be qualified job applicants in the future.
We, as youngsters, should bear in mind that when we encounter any adversities in life, work or study, only by working hard and wait patiently until the last minute, can we possibly see the advent of success. An enlightening saying shall be kept in mind, “There is no great achievement that is not the result of patient working and waiting.”
